Asthma

This study day provides foundational knowledge on asthma management for both adults and children. It is not a substitute for completing a full course on managing asthma patients in your practice. You will review the respiratory system and gain a deeper understanding of how asthma impacts this system, with a focus on diagnosis, treatment, and effective management strategies.

Course Objectives

• Provide an introduction and update to Asthma diagnosis, monitoring and review in General Practice 

• Improve your knowledge in diagnosis, assessment and review of asthma management with General Practice 

• Increase confidence in being able to understand individual competency in the management of asthma patients within primary care

• Understand the support and referral pathways for asthma patients within General Practice 

• Develop the skills and confidence to carry out safe and effective patient cate in the diagnosis and management of Asthma in general practice 

Learning Outcomes

• Understand and apply the diagnostic criteria for Asthma diagnosis

• Learn the ability to to assess and demonstrate individual clinical competence in relation to Asthma Management 

• Recognise the diagnostic criteria in national guidelines and understand its application clinically

• Be able to apply best practice guidelines in the assessment and management of asthma patients within General Practice 

• Assess the effectiveness of delivering safe and efficient care for asthma patients whin General Practice 

• Understand the parameters of clinical competency and the role of the multidisciplinary team 

• Demonstrate awareness of best management and review of Asthma patients within Primary Care
