Course Description
This course is designed to update clinical knowledge and enhance the approach to interpreting common blood tests in primary care. Participants will gain essential insights into the interpretation of Full Blood Count (FBC), inflammatory markers (e.g., CRP, ESR), renal function tests, nutritional parameters (e.g., Vitamin D, Iron Studies), liver function tests, bone profile, lipid profile, and cancer markers (where appropriate). This course will equip healthcare professionals with the skills to interpret these tests accurately, improving patient care through informed decision-making and effective management.
Course Objectives
Update clinical knowledge on interpreting common blood tests in primary care. Including FBC, Inflammatory markers (e.g. CRP ESR), renal function, nutritional parameters (e.g., Vitamin D, Iron Studies), liver function, bone profile, lipid profile, and cancer markers (where appropriate).
Learn clinical approaches to blood test interpretation, focusing on : reviewing basic science between each test, correlating test results with patient history and identifying differential diagnoses and creating appropriate management plans
Applying learning through case study exercises to strengthen interpretation skills and clinical decision making
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will have a greater awareness of interpreting common blood tests encountered in primary care, as well as practical experience in applying their knowledge through interactive case studies
Aim to increase the overall confidence and competence in managing blood test results, ultimately enhancing patient care and outcomes within the primary care setting.
